I attended the Legacy Orientation Session after my father passed — we had no clear picture of what documents existed or who to approach first. The session helped me understand the sequence of steps involved and which bodies to contact. Nurul was patient with my questions and did not make me feel rushed. I left with a much clearer sense of where to go next.

The Records Organisation Service was exactly what our family needed. My mother's documents were spread across three different locations — some at her home, some at my sister's, a few with an old accountant. Farid helped us go through everything systematically and create a summary index. It took two sessions. We now have one clear file. I wish we had done this ten years ago.

I enrolled my parents in the Family Legacy Companion Programme as a birthday gift of sorts — they are in their 70s and had been putting off sorting their affairs. What I appreciated was that Heirvale was very clear from the start that they do not provide legal advice. My parents came away with their records in order and a specific list of questions to bring to our family solicitor. The follow-up support was also helpful.

The glossary they provided was genuinely useful. I had heard terms like faraid and hibah before but never had a plain explanation of what they mean in practice and which bodies handle them. The orientation session gave me enough background to have a much more informed conversation with Amanah Raya Berhad. The team was straightforward and did not oversell what they could offer.

I was hesitant at first — I thought it might be a service that eventually leads you toward buying further products or legal packages. It was not. The Records Organisation Service was exactly what was described: they helped me sort my documents and that was it. The folder system they provided is simple and practical. One thing I would mention is that the second session ran a little long, but that was partly because I had more documents than expected.

My husband and I went through the Companion Programme together. The sessions were spread over about five weeks, which suited us as we both work full time. The question preparation session at the end was the most valuable part for me — we arrived at our solicitor's office with a clear, written list, and the meeting was much more productive than I had expected. Suraya was helpful throughout with scheduling and logistics.

A family in Ampang — scattered records, unclear next steps

Records Organisation Service · Completed May 2025

Challenge

Following their father's retirement, an adult sibling group discovered that key documents — property titles, insurance policies, bank account details — were held in various locations, with some information known only to their father, who was beginning to experience memory difficulties.

Programme Used

The family enrolled in the Records Organisation Service. Over two sessions, they worked with Farid to locate, sort, and label all accessible documents into a structured personal file. Gaps were noted and they were directed to specific institutions to obtain missing items.

Outcome

The family now has a single, labelled file with a summary index. Three missing documents were identified and subsequently obtained from the relevant bodies. The siblings were able to proceed to a solicitor with a clear picture of the estate.

"We had been putting this off for years. Two sessions was all it took to bring everything together."

A couple in Damansara — planning ahead, not sure where to begin

Family Legacy Companion Programme · Completed June 2025

Challenge

A couple in their mid-50s wanted to get their affairs in order for their children's sake but did not know how the process worked in Malaysia or what a solicitor would need from them. They had heard conflicting accounts from friends and family.

Programme Used

They attended the Family Legacy Companion Programme over five weeks. The programme covered how estate matters are typically arranged in Malaysia, helped them organise their own records into an archive binder, and concluded with a structured question-preparation session.

Outcome

The couple attended their first appointment with a licensed solicitor equipped with a written list of questions and a clear summary of their holdings. The solicitor later noted that the family arrived better prepared than most.

"The question-preparation session was something I did not expect to find so useful. It changed the entire dynamic of our meeting with the solicitor."
